Spencer Fane attorney John Browning was recently featured in a Business Insider article about a product liability case in California, which could potentially impact the future of Amazon’s, and other similar businesses’, third-party sales models.
The article highlights an incident regarding a defective product purchased from Amazon, where the product caught fire and caused injury.
Business Insider notes that Amazon may be liable for all of the products sold on the site, even those that are not warehoused or fulfilled by Amazon.
“California’s got some pretty consumer-friendly law when it comes to product liability,” John explains in the article. “It means that Amazon is not going to be able to walk away from this quite so quickly.”
