Erick Robinson Talks Patent Venues at IP Dealmakers Forum

January 5, 2023

Spencer Fane attorney Erick Robinson presented on an important issue in patent cases – the venue – at the 9th Annual IP Dealmakers Forum on December 7 in New York City.

During his presentation, The Venue Decision: Stats & Strategy at Top U.S. Patent Courts, Erick provided an “in the trenches” perspective and the latest rundown and breakdown in numbers for patent venues. Specifically, Erick and his fellow panelists discussed the Western District of Texas order and other new venue developments, reviewed key statistics in Texas, Delaware, California, Virginia, and other busy patent courts, and identified potential new hotspots. He was joined by Michelle Eber, Validity Finance; Claus Melarti, RPX Corporation; Gary Sorden, Cole Schotz; and Alfred R. Fabricant, Fabricant.

The IP Dealmakers Forum brings together a select group of decision-makers at the forefront of the global intellectual property market, including investors, IP owners, industry experts, and thought leaders. Considered the industry’s must-attend event, IP Dealmakers is where industry leaders stay informed and where real business gets done.

Based in Texas, Erick is a partner and co-chair of the Intellectual Property practice at Spencer Fane. He manages and tries “bet-the-business” patent cases on both sides of the docket.
