Erick Robinson Co-Authors Texas Lawyer Article on 2020-2021 Federal Circuit Patent Opinions

August 22, 2022

Spencer Fane attorney Erick Robinson recently co-authored an article for Texas Lawyer on the increasingly large number of Federal Circuit opinions that grant mandamuses, reversing Western District of Texas Judge Alan D. Albright’s rulings denying patent defendant motions to transfer venue.

In the article, The Federal Circuit’s 2020-2021 Patent Venue Mandamus Cases, Erick and his fellow authors examine a second aspect of the 2020-2021 opinions in more detail, including reasons more petitions for mandamus review of venue decisions make their way to certain judges, and especially those filed by certain types of defendants.

It is the second in a four-article series; you can read the first article, The Federal Circuit’s 2020-2021 Patent Venue Mandamus Cases, here.

Based in Texas, Erick is a partner and co-chair of the Intellectual Property practice at Spencer Fane. He manages and tries “bet-the-business” patent cases on both sides of the docket.
