Spencer Fane attorney John Browning was recently interviewed for an article in the ABA Journal outlining ethics issues attorneys regularly encounter.
Titled “How to avoid 10 common ethics pitfalls,” the article explains possible ethics issues that arise from technology, communication, and confidentiality.
John focused on the ethics issues that can occur when lawyers respond to bad reviews online. “When a lawyer sees a negative review of his/her services on either a consumer review site like Yelp or an attorney-specific site like Avvo.com, too many lawyers have a knee-jerk reaction of rushing to defend themselves, often revealing confidential client information in the process,” John explained in the article.
