At the Missouri Society of Healthcare Attorneys annual meeting in November, Spencer Fane attorney Stacy Harper provided insight to attorneys for healthcare providers regarding when they can and cannot disclose protected health information to business associates. Topics included risk analysis, responses to violations or breaches, and the questions attorneys need to ask themselves to determine whether or not a vendor is an “associate.”
