Ed Herman helps clients purchase and sell improved and unimproved real property, as well as existing businesses. In addition, Ed assists his clients in addressing the day-to-day transactional issues that arise during the operation of their businesses. Ed currently represents numerous child care franchisees who have purchased and constructed new facilities in Texas.
Ed also has extensive experience in the “biomass” renewable energy arena, having played an integral role in developing and documenting two of the largest on-site dairy anaerobic digesters projects in the United States. Each biomass digester project, whether on a dairy or utilizing food-wastes, typically is multi-faceted and involves numerous distinct practice areas, including, real estate, energy (both renewable and fossil fuel), and construction, as well as an understanding of the unique nature of dairies and other “waste management” operations.
Prior to joining the Firm, Ed was in-house counsel for over 25 years at 7-Eleven, Inc. and Dean Foods. At 7-Eleven, he played an integral role in M&A, environmental, and real estate, primarily in the convenience store industry. At Dean Foods, he was instrumental in real estate, environmental, construction in the dairy/food processing industry. Ed worked regularly with all levels of both corporations, including senior management.
