The former deputy director and general counsel of the Missouri Department of Agriculture, Darryl Chatman has a unique background that he brings to bear in his legal representation of businesses in animal health, life sciences and agricultural issues; government relations; general commercial and employment matters. Darryl provides both legal advice and litigation services to his clients.

Animal Health, Life Sciences and Agriculture Law – Darryl, an experienced lawyer with advanced degrees in agriculture economics, animal science and public administration, focuses on growing agribusiness and developing markets for agriculture products. He primarily assists agriculture commodity groups, farmers, ranchers, alternative fuel industries and biotech start-up companies with a wide range of corporate legal services that include contracts, compliance, business formation, funding, and insurance.

Commercial and Real Estate Litigation – Darryl counsels banks, businesses and insurance companies of all sizes. Most of his cases involve various types of contract disputes. His experience also extends to litigation specific to the food and agricultural industry. He also handles cases involving noncompete agreements and the misappropriation of trade secrets.

In addition to his legal practice, Darryl served as the executive director of the Missouri Agricultural Foundation, which supports projects that promote sound agricultural practices, growth in agribusiness and agritourism, international agricultural exports, urban agriculture, food safety, farm safety practices, youth development and education.

Additionally, Darryl was recently appointed to the University of Missouri Board of Curators and currently serves as vice chair of the board.
