Denver-based partner, Tom Grimshaw, will receive the 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Special District Association of Colorado during the SDA Annual Conference. The award recognizes Tom’s dedication to the Special District Association and to special districts throughout Colorado.
In 1975 Tom conceived the idea of forming the Special District Association to serve special districts as an advocate with representation at the Capitol. Tom saw the need and had the vision and knowledge to organize special districts creating a forum to allow them to take hold and create a sustainable way of developing Colorado.
Tom served two terms in the Colorado General Assembly as a State Representative, and during that time sponsored the Colorado Housing Act. He has served extensively as a consultant to local governments on infrastructure development and to land developers and homebuilders on land use, planning and zoning issues.
The Special District Association of Colorado was formed in 1975 to serve the interests of the special district form of local government in Colorado.
