On February 17 Kansas City Partner Jim Price addressed recent Environmental Protection Agency greenhouse gas emissions rulings at "Copenhagen, Carbon, and Beyond," a gathering of area business leaders presented by the Greater Kansas Chamber of Commerce Climate Protection Partnership.
Price discussed the latest regulation of greenhouse gas emissions and how Midwestern businesses can prepare for the changes those regulations will bring and take advantage of the opportunities they will present. In addition to Price’s presentation, Congressman Emanuel Cleaver, II (D-Mo.) via video shared insights he gained while attending the Copenhagen Climate Accord meetings in December 2009.
Over a two-year span, many Kansas City area companies have transitioned into green practices and decreased their carbon footprints. Area businesses discussed their success, and the Climate Protection Partnership granted an award to UMB Financial for its success in reducing waste and energy usage as part of the Climate Protection Partnership’s initiatives. Mariner Kemper accepted the award on behalf of UMB.
