Craig is a Partner with Spencer Fane Britt & Browne and practices in the firm's Economic Development Incentives & Project Solutions Group focusing on real estate development. Prior to joining Spencer Fane, Craig served as a law clerk to Associate Circuit Judge Vernon Scoville of the Jackson County Circuit Court from 2001-2003. He is admitted to practice in Missouri (1999) and Kansas (2000).

Areas of Emphasis

  • Real Estate Development: Since joining the Firm in 2003, Mr. Davis has endeavored in the field of Incentivized Retail Development. He has closed successful projects in markets throughout the States of Missouri, Kansas, and Nebraska. The majority of his Incentive work is anchored by Tax Increment Financing though other tools such as Transportation Development and Community Improvement Districts often come in to play. Mr. Davis has the traditional Real Estate experience that goes hand in hand with any development project including land use, entitlements, and transactional work.
  • Transportation Finance: Transportation drives economic development. Mr. Davis has a leveraged various tools including Transportation Development Districts, Community Improvement District, Tax Increment Financing, MoDOT Innovative Financing Programs, and local government pledges in to innovative strategies for solving complex transportation funding dilemmas throughout his development practice. He has endeavored to do everything from upgrading access to a retail center to building an entire 2 mile 4 lane corridor from scratch.
  • Tax Exempt Financing: Mr. Davis has worked through numerous tax exempt bond transactions. His experience with closing these transactions gives him a unique insight to structuring the various incentives on the front end of a deal.
  • Governmental Affairs: Mr. Davis has continues to participate in many legislative policy groups as part of his practice. Taking part in the policy discussions during the legislative process gives his practice a real time appreciation of what is coming as well as an ability to impact the final outcome.
