Laura practices with the firm's Estate Planning Group. Clients and their families can minimize estate tax with her assistance in making use of applicable exclusions, credits, and exemptions. Her tax planning practice includes family business succession planning, creation of family limited partnerships, annual gifting programs, generation-skipping strategies, charitable planning, and counseling with regard to distributions of qualified retirement assets. Laura also practices in the area of probate and the administration of decedents' estates, counseling families through the estate administration process. In addition to complex estate planning, Laura enjoys assisting clients with basic estate planning, addressing issues such as basic disposition of assets at death, probate avoidance, and trust planning for minor children and children with special needs. Laura is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and is licensed to practice law in Missouri and Kansas. She is also a member of the New York Bar.
Laura serves on the Board of Directors of Children’s TLC (Therapeutic Learning Center). She is a past Board member of the Mid-America Planned Giving Council and was Co-Chairman of the 2001 LEAVE A LEGACY™ Campaign for Greater Kansas City. She is a member of the Estate Planning Society of Kansas City. Laura is past president of the Board of Directors of the Children's Emergency Shelter Home of Reno County, Kansas.
